I often get calls from potential clients and existing clients about how much time they have to file a discrimination lawsuit in Texas. There are many different answers because it just depends on the law. Normally, you have a very, very short time frame within which to file a claim under Texas law. Under our national laws about employment discrimination, you have generally nine months, sometimes six months, sometimes ten months, but rarely as much as two years. No one who is being harassed, discriminated against, or retaliated against in the workplace, however, should wait that long. In fact, you shouldn’t even wait to be fired.
