Question:

Is there something I can do if the males in the office are receiving preferential treatment?

Answer:

I recently got calls from two potential female clients who were surrounded by male employees in the same position, as well as male managers and supervisors. These women were being treated differently. They were being set aside and not receiving training that the other male employees were getting. Moreover, the male employees were getting easier job assignments than these women. Bboth of these women were also receiving sexual comments and sexual slurs relating to them being women.

When they came to me, they wanted to know whether or not they were protected under the law, and if there was anything that the law or an experienced lawyer could do. The answer is, under most circumstances, yes. It is illegal, under Texas law and our national laws, to discriminate against women in the terms and conditions of their employment.
